Vauxhall Motors launches its new advertising campaign showcasing football fans across the country.  The advert entitled, ‘Supporting A Nation’ features the England Football Team, legends Jack Charlton and Peter Shilton, football fans and Vauxhall staff.  The campaign will air before the England versus Bulgaria European Championship qualifying match on 2nd September 2011.  The yet unreleased soundtrack, ‘What a Life’ is provided by, ‘Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds’ and taken from his highly anticipated new album due to be released on 17 October 2011.

Vauxhall Motors ‘Supporting A Nation’ captures how football brings people together.   A line-up of football fans spills outside onto the streets, covering the length of the UK moving through offices, towns and beaches leading up to Wembley Stadium.  The advert ends by panning down the England football team line-up at Wembley, moving across the faces of Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney, Jack Wilshere and Ashley Cole amongst others as they stand for the National Anthem before the game.

Commenting on the inspiration of the Vauxhall Motors campaign, Peter Hope, Marketing Director stated; “Vauxhall is immensely proud to be supporting Home Nations football, not just the senior men’s team but also women’s, youth and disability football.  Our advert is all about the connection between the country and our teams and the unifying effect football can have on us all.”

McCann Erickson Birmingham developed the campaign for Vauxhall Motors under the direction of Vince McSweeney, Executive Creative Director and Paul Dean, Divisional Director. Explaining the premise behind the ad, Vince said, “The excitement and anticipation of a home international brings people together like nothing else. It's not about being a die-hard football fanatic, it's about people everywhere showing support for their nation. This advertisement is a celebration of that. And it's this message of wide-ranging support that's true of Vauxhall as a brand.”

As part of Vauxhall Motors’ sponsorship to all four of the UK’s home football associations, the car manufacturer will look at opportunities for fans to interact with the Home Nation teams throughout the year, whether it’s through training with the squad, tickets to matches and other initiatives.
