Layth wins the South East heat of The Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2010

Beatboxing: The art of producing drum beats, rhythm, and musical sounds using one's mouth, lips, tongue, voice, nasal passage and throat.
Layth (Scott Latham) of Brighton came out victorious in the South East heat of the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2010 and is now one step closer to being crowned the national Champion and driving away in a spanking new Vauxhall Corsa SXi worth £14,500.
With the 2008 Champion, MC Zani on the judging panel, Layth cemented his place at the grand final in June in a series of fiercely contested rounds of verbal battles at London’s Islington O2 Academy Bar. With the introduction of the wildcard format for this year’s Championship, Pikey Esquire (Tom Swarman) and BeatFox (Jim Fox) will also be attempting to challenge for the title at the final where they’ll perform in the pre-main-event battle for a chance to join Layth on the grand final stage.
The final two regional heats will be hotly contested until June in Bristol and Newcastle, where beatboxing hopefuls will battle each other, attempting to impress both crowd and judges and win the last coveted place in June’s grand final.
Unleashing their vocal artistry at the renowned O2 Islington Academy, each finalist must use their full arsenal to impress the roaring crowd and some of beatboxing’s finest judges who will also be performing exclusive live sets. Loud-mouth legend, Stig of the Dump will be conducting proceedings and for 2010, the crowd will be treated to an entirely new concept for the event – the crew battle. For the first time ever at the Championships, two or more groups of beatboxers will perform a staged clash surrounded by ‘battling’ breakdancers that is sure to raise the roof.
