Lucas the Beatbox wins the Midlands heat of The Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2010

Lucas the Beatbox (Lucas Brooks) of Derby came out victorious in the Midlands heat of the Vauxhall UK Beatbox Championships 2010 and is now one step closer to being crowned the national Champion and driving away in a spanking new Vauxhall Corsa SXi worth £14,500.
In what were fiercely contested rounds of verbal battles at Nottingham’s famous Rescue Rooms, Lucas the Beatbox cemented his place at the grand final in June. Due to the wildcard format for this year’s Championship, Motormouf (Alex Young) and Bass6 (Rupert Oldridge) will also be zooming down to London where they’ll perform in the pre-main-event battle for a chance to join Lucas the Beatbox on the grand final stage.
The rest of the regional heats will be hotly contested until June in London, Bristol and Newcastle, where beatboxing hopefuls will battle each other, attempting to impress both crowd and judges and win a coveted place in June’s grand final.
Unleashing their vocal artistry at the renowned O2 Islington Academy, each finalist must use their full arsenal to impress the roaring crowd and some of beatboxing’s finest judges who will also be performing exclusive live sets. Loud-mouth legend, Stig of the Dump will be conducting proceedings and for 2010, the crowd will be treated to an entirely new concept for the event – the crew battle. For the first time ever at the Championships, two or more groups of beatboxers will perform a staged clash surrounded by ‘battling’ breakdancers that is sure to raise the roof.
