Luton – Help for Heroes mascot, Hero Bear, is now the proud owner of a newly designed t-shirt thanks to 11 year old Bedfordshire school pupil, Bethany Banks.
The Margaret Beaufort Middle School student was judged winner of the t-shirt design competition in October, and had a surprise visit from Hero Bear last week, who presented her winning t-shirt design proudly worn by the cuddly toy.
Bethany’s design with the words, ‘A hero’s friend’, beat over 500 other entries to create a limited edition t-shirt, that is on sale now across the UK for just £12.00 with all proceeds going to Help for Heroes. Entries were judged by Help for Heroes co-founder Emma Parry who said: “Vauxhall’s idea to run a competition for children to design a t-shirt for Hero Bear was a brilliant initiative and I was thrilled with the number of entries we received. It’s an excellent way to raise necessary funds for Help for Heroes so that we can continue working to support our wounded.”
Cheryl Stibbs, Vauxhall Programmes and Promotions Manager said, “We are really pleased with the success of this campaign and happy that Bethany’s t-shirt has been produced and all proceeds of the limited edition bears will go to Help for Heroes.”
